Become a Professional River Guide in Wyoming

Many folks dream of living the guide life and having a professional guide job. Being a river guide affords many wonderful opportunities, both personally and professional. It also requires commitment, thoughtfulness, intention and a willingness to embrace an alternative lifestyle and workflow. Wyoming River Trips works hard to help our new staff learn about and embrace the realities of an outdoor lifestyle and help return staff find sustainable work arrangements that suit their love of the outdoors and changing professional development needs.

Cody Wyoming is a fantastic place to being your river guiding career. Class II whitewater and minimal hazards on our Shoshone river run create ideal conditions for learning basic river skills. The North Fork of the Shoshone provides the next step in your training. Cody can be a challenging place to find staff housing and our options for helping with this do exist but are limited at this time. Potential staff should be invested in finding their own or helping develop our current staff accommodations—i.e. expect to be an active participant in building the kind of place you want to live.

If you are looking  for an Instagrammable part-time job full of modern comforts, instant gratification, non-stop excitement, and to be entertained, This may not be the job for you.

If you have chosen to forgo some modern comforts in favor of the fulfillment you feel spending your days outside with good people, are interested in learning more each day and becoming a better teacher and guide, value constructive feedback as much as positive feedback, and want to build deep meaningful connections with your co-workers and clients by contributing your best and valuing the contributions of others, please DO APPLY!

We believe the best stories in life are the ones we realize we have AFTER we’ve spent our time living our best lives and being our best selves. If you relate to this, we’d love to get to know you and live a little life with you.

P.S. Turns out a side benefit of living our best lives happens to be great photos, plenty of excitement, joy and entertainment.
